This is a bridge to establishing a self-practice for those who have completed the beginners course. We recommend that students do at least 8 weeks on a regular basis in the intermediate class before moving on to self-practice. This class is also suitable for self-practitioners looking for more guidance on technique.
This is a led class which is geared to build stamina, strength and memorisation of the sequence. Specific detail to alignment and breath control will be emphasised. Students will be encouraged to continue to deepen their understanding of the yoga preparing them for self-practice. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the class as we will begin promptly. Regular classes every day throughout the week - see schedule
Suitable for students who have attended beginners classes and have adequate knowledge of the standing postures, or for those who have had experience practicing in a Mysore-style class. Self-practice is a supervised class where one-to-one tuition and adjustments are given by an experienced teacher.
Students practice at their own speed and breath and the teacher focuses on specific needs within the practice. This allows individuals to progress and develop at their own pace. New postures are explored and added as students progress.
Self-practice classes are held 7 days a week, mornings and evenings depending on the days. We cannot run over the allotted time so please arrive promptly. If your practice is longer than the allocated 1 hr 3/4 please discuss the option of coming a little earlier with your teacher. Please see the schedule for self-practice times. A traditional led counted ashtanga vinyasa class is where a teacher counts a class through an entire series. Each asana within a series has a certain number of vinyasas; a certain number of movements synchronised with the breath. As your movements are being counted through, the challenge is to maintain the rhythm given to you by the teacher. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of the class as we will begin promptly. See the schedule for traditional led class times.
Traditional led counted classes are not for beginners as the focus is on the count and not learning new postures. More on ashtanga vinyasa yoga...
